Chelsea can bank on wily Guus, says Hasselbaink

Guus Hiddink is no stranger to turning a troubled dressing room full of international players and inflated egos around and he has been backed to bring success back to Chelsea[LNB]this season.[LNB]Hiddink is unlikely to be appointed in time for him to take charge of the FA Cup fifth-round tie at Watford on Saturday but, according to former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, he will still arrive in time to prevent the Blues' campaign from ending in failure.[LNB] On the ball: Guus Hiddink is no stranger to dealing with top international stars which makes him perfect for Chelsea, according to Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink[LNB] Two jobs Hiddink told country comes before club as he prepares for talks with Chelsea[LNB]EXCLUSIVE: The Chelsea part-timer - Hiddink set to double up with Russia and Kenyon may be next to go[LNB]Look who Sir Alex has seen off in his time: The 923 bosses who have come and gone...[LNB]CHELSEA FC NEWS FROM ACROSS THE WEB[LNB][LNB]The 62-year-old is expected to agree terms so he can start next week as caretaker manager for the rest of the season.[LNB]Hasselbaink knows all about Hiddink's man-management techniques, having played under him during World Cup 98 for Holland.[LNB]The former Chelsea striker may have finished as one of the top scorers in the League for Leeds that season but he claimed only a bitpart role as Hiddink's side reached the semi-finals.[LNB]While the Dutch failed to get past Brazil in the last four, it was still a remarkable feat considering the ill-disciplined rabble that Hiddink had struggled to motivate at Euro 96, where they flattered by reaching the last eight.[LNB]He proved it was no fluke by guiding minnows South Korea to the World Cup semi-finals in 2002, Australia to the knock-out stages four years later and then Russia to the semi-finals of Euro 2008.[LNB]Hasselbaink has always been considered to be one of the most reluctant players to fully support a manager for club or country but the former Real Madrid coach earned his respect, even though he spent most of Holland's World Cup tournament in 1998 on the sidelines.[LNB]Impressed: Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink[LNB] The suspicion remains that too many powerful figures in the Chelsea dressing room are in control of what happens yet, for the short term, at least, Hasselbaink feels Hiddink will rightfully show them who's boss.[LNB]Hasselbaink said: 'He has a lot of authority around him, straight away you have a lot of respect for him because of the way he is.[LNB]'He knows a lot about football and he wants a passing game. He is not afraid of changing his system. He looks at the materials he has and what is the best system to play.[LNB]'He will get the best out of the Chelsea players. If you look at what he has done with South Korea and Russia after what he has achieved with Holland, it is amazing.[LNB]'Let's not also forget what he did with Australia.[LNB]'I don't think he is afraid of the pressure of taking charge of Chelsea. He always wanted to work in England because it is one of the countries he hasn't worked in yet.[LNB]'For a manager to work in the Premier League, it is going to be a big challenge but he knows what he has to do. As far as motivating his players, it depends on the characteristics of each individual. For some you have to be their friend or their father figure but with others you have to tell them this is what you have to do and this is the way it is.[LNB] 'He knows what is best for each person and, in terms of man management, he is one of the best.'[LNB]Chelsea, who sacked Luiz Felipe Scolari on Monday, still have a chance of winning three competitions this term. They are only seven points behind leaders Manchester United in the Premier League, face Juventus in the last 16 of the Champions League and travel to Watford in the FA Cup.[LNB]But Hasselbaink said: 'I don't think Chelsea can think about the title. The first priority is getting back to their strengths, which is playing well and winning games. If they can put a run together of 10 or 12 winning games, then they have a chance.'[LNB] Two jobs Hiddink told country comes before club as he prepares for talks with Chelsea[LNB]EXCLUSIVE: The Chelsea part-timer - Hiddink set to double up with Russia and Kenyon may be next to go[LNB]Look who Sir Alex has seen off in his time: The 923 bosses who have come and gone...[LNB]CHELSEA FC NEWS FROM ACROSS THE WEB[LNB] [LNB] [LNB]
