Chelsea battling Real Madrid and Inter Milan for Bayern Munich star Ribery

Chelsea are facing a three-way fight with Real Madrid and Inter Milan for Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery. The German giants thought they had seen off interest in their star player after demanding more than £80million. But the 26-year-old's appearance for France against the Faroe Islands on Wednesday has sparked fresh reports in Spain that Ribery could yet move before the close of the transfer window. Ribery was involved for 25 minutes despite not being fit to play or train fully with Bayern for the last few weeks. Madrid are apparently ready to make a fresh offer of £26m, plus two players from Wesley Sneijder, Arjen Robben and Rafael van der Vaart. Bayern boss Louis van Gaal is furious that Ribery turned out for France after initially releasing him on the understanding that he would not play. The player did little to assuage the row, saying: 'It was good for me to return to the French team because, even if I was not 100 per cent, it gives me confidence for the next matches and I was reassured.'
