Chelsea are on the trail of Feyenoord starlet Jonathan de Guzman. With just one year remaining on his contract, the Eredivisie leaders are resigned to losing the 21-year-old, who is valued at around £4million. Able to play as a right winger or as an attacking midfielder, De Guzman has battled back impressively from a serious knee injury picked up just after the turn of the year. Chelsea first considered a move for De Guzman two years ago and have monitored his progress ever since. Their sporting director, Frank Arnesen, was in Holland at the weekend to witness the youngster score a stunning double in Feyenoord's 4-0 home win over Roda JC. However, Chelsea will face competition from Valencia and Stuttgart for his signature. Although Canadian born, De Guzman has a Dutch passport and has already represented his adopted country at Under 21 level. He is understood to be in the reckoning for a place in Bert van Marwijk's squad for the World Cup next summer.
