Chelsea 0 Hull 0: Scolari alarm bell sounds as Blues fans fume

Under fire: Scolari frets[LNB] The fire alarm rang out around Stamford Bridge and nobody took a blind bit of notice as Chelsea[LNB]assistant first-team coach Ray Wilkins was wheeled out to give a post-mortem on the side's inability to beat Hull[LNB]at home. [LNB]No disrespect to the likeable Wilkins, but, just as with the indifference shown to the fire alarm, not too many people were that interested in what he had to say about Chelsea's performance.[LNB]Far more pertinent would have been Luiz Felipe Scolari's thoughts on what he intends to do to get the Chelsea faithful back onside after their displeasure in his management had manifested itself with chants of 'You don't know what you're doing'. [LNB]The criticism came after Scolari chose to replace debutant Ricardo Quaresma with Didier Drogba.[LNB]Presumably, the home fans would have liked their manager to sacrifice a defender, such as the ineffectual Jose Bosingwa, and go all out for the win. [LNB]But laying the blame purely at Scolari's door for the fact that Chelsea's title hopes have surely disappeared, and that they could struggle to stay even in the top four, is far too simplistic an explanation, even if it is the manager who ultimately carries the can.[LNB] Roman ruins: Fans turn on Big Phil as Russian owner sees Chelsea drop further behind in title race[LNB]CHELSEA 0 HULL 0: The action as it happened[LNB]I won't walk out on West Ham for Chelsea, Zola tells Blues fans[LNB]CHELSEA FC NEWS FROM ACROSS THE WEB[LNB]HULL CITY FC NEWS FROM ACROSS THE WEB[LNB][LNB] Baptism of fire: Quaresma (left) tussles with Hull's Dean Marney during his first outing in a Chelsea shirt[LNB]It was left to John Terry to defend Scolari, and given Chelsea's predicament is to a large extent the fault of the players, it was fitting that the club captain chose to speak. [LNB]Terry said: 'I can understand the fans' frustrations, but it should not be with the coaching staff or the management, it should be towards the players. We are the ones going out there and not doing what we should be doing.[LNB] [LNB] 'We started well, but in the middle part of the season we have not been good enough. We need to improve and we owe it to ourselves, to the manager, to the club and thefans who are paying an awful lot of money to see not great football. We have the players and the squad to do that.'[LNB] Crunch time: Marney (left) and Drogba [LNB]A major rebuilding job is required at Chelsea in the summer, although whether Scolari will be handed the funds to undertake that task, if indeed he is still the manger, is a moot point. [LNB]As the game wore on, Hull looked the more likely side to break the deadlock, CraigFagan and Dean Marney spurning good chances, while keeper Matt Duke had onlythree saves to make. [LNB]Hull boss Phil Brown said: 'To get something from the game was a massive achievement. They didn't bring their best game to the table and we did.'[LNB]CHELSEA (4-5-1): Hilario 6; Bosingwa 5, Alex 6, Terry 6, A Cole 6; Quaresma 6 (Drogba 63min, 5), Ballack 5 (Deco 73, 5), Mikel 5 (Belletti 57, 5), Lampard 6, Kalou 6; Anelka 5.[LNB]Booked: Mikel.[LNB]HULL CITY (4-4-1-1): Duke 6; Ricketts 6, Turner 7, Zayatte 7, Dawson 6; Garcia 6, Ashbee 6, Marney 6, Kilbane 6; Geovanni 7 (France 81); Fagan 6.
