Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has denied reports that a facial injury picked up in training will rule him out for the rest of the season.
The Czech Republic goalkeeper required surgery on a nasty facial injury picked up after a training ground collision with a team-mate.
The 25-year-old had already missed the last nine games with an ankle problem and, after seeing his understudy Carlo Cudicini pick up a hamstring problem in the midweek Champions League win over Fenerbahce, is desperate to return to action after his latest injury blow.
Cech believes he will be back in the not too distant future and has denied reports that he could wear a protective facial mask.
"As soon as we can get the solution, hopefully there will be a chance for me to play," he told Chelsea TV.
"It looks much better, it feels much better and it is not that swollen. The recovery is going well at the moment.
"There are still plenty of games to play and I have been missing games for a long time and I can't wait to be back.
"I can still train. The problem is I cannot afford any contact, so I can run, I can do some stuff in the gym.
"I am doing that now and I am waiting for the solution from the surgeon to get me back on the field."
