Cech concedes leaky spell
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech admits he is trying to put his recent leaky performances behind him. The 26-year-old shot-stopper has been heavily criticised after conceding seven goals in two games for the Blues. Chelsea's recent defensive record has somewhat overshadowed a terrific spell in which the Blues boasted six clean sheets in 10 games. Cech, though, concedes that his recent performances between the sticks have been disappointing. "When you are at the top and ranked among the world's best goalkeepers, people are waiting to see you make mistakes," he said. "Now they have occurred, but I am used to living with it. "On the other hand, it should not be forgotten that in the previous 15 matches I performed without problems." Asked if his recent leaky displays had knocked his confidence, Cech added: "It will not stay in my mind, I will squeeze it out. "I will not make excuses and am now only interested in how I will perform in the upcoming games." Cech went on to explain his reaction to Fabio Aurelio's free-kick in Tuesday's UEFA Champions League tie with Liverpool in which the Blues stopper appeared to stumble. "I made a mistake. I was focused too much on a cross and I made a step forward. I could not do anything then to catch the shot," he added. "It was difficult for me then as I had to be focused even more so that I would not make another error." He added: "You try to do your best in every match, but sometimes it just does not work. That was the case against Liverpool."
