Cech agent rejects Barca talk

Petr Cech's agent has rejected reports that the Chelsea goalkeeper could be set for a big-money summer switch to Barcelona. The Czech Republic international and Juventus No.1 Gianluigi Buffon have both been touted as potential signings for the Spanish giants. Victor Valdes is Pep Guardiola's current goalkeeper, but the club have admitted that they are on the lookout to strengthen their last line of defence. Cech's representative Pavel Zika confirmed that Barca were monitoring Cech's progress at Stamford Bridge, but insisted the giant shot-stopper was settled in West London. Speculation over Cech's future increased when it emerged that he was learning Spanish, but Zika insists that nothing should be read into his client's thirst for knowledge. Very happy Zika told Pravo: "We know of the interest. But Petr is very happy at Chelsea and has one of the best contracts there. "It (learning Spanish) has nothing to do with Barcelona. Petr loves languages and he is good at them." With Cech and his wife Martina expecting another baby, Zika admitted that family ties would also make any switch to Camp Nou more unlikely. He added: "They are anticipating their second child, are happy in London and Chelsea will hardly release him." Barca's vice-president Jaime Ferrer confirmed the club were considering their options with a new goalkeeper high on the agenda. He said: "Of course, we have been discussing new signings, and it is no secret that the goalkeeper is not our strongest link at the moment."
