Carvalho won't give up title
13 Mar 2009 - 15:41:06
Fit-again Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho is refusing to rule out a late charge for the Premier League title.
The Portugal international is hoping to make his first start in two months when the Blues host Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
But despite watching on with a hamstring problem as his side's title challenge has faltered, Carvalho still believes Manchester United's seven-point lead at the top of the table can be clawed back with ten games remaining.
"I had to be strong in my head and I carry on now and look to play and be fit, fit, fit when the coach wants me," he told the club's official website.
"I can start to play now and help the team, we have big games and competitions to play.
"It is a good time, it is always important for everyone to be fit in the last two or three months.
"We still have the FA Cup and Champions League and of course the Premier League is still possible. It is difficult but you can't give up, we just have to win our games, game after game.
"Because we are depending on Man United's results, we think more about the Champions League and FA Cup. We are getting stronger and have to finish the season well.
"The Carling Cup is not possible, but we still have the FA Cup, Champions League and the Premier League. In the end we will see."
