Carlo's confidence in Terry

Carlo Ancelotti has revealed he was 'always confident' that John Terry would ignore Manchester City's overtures to stay at Chelsea. Terry has committed his future to Chelsea in the past week following City's sustained attempts to sign the England captain over the summer. Chelsea rejected bids for the centre-half and Ancelotti was not worried that his skipper would defect to the club's Premier League rivals. Ancelotti believes that, despite City's current wealth, they are not yet in a position to sign the football world's biggest names. City missed out on signing Kaka from Ancelotti's former club AC Milan in January and the Chelsea boss insists the top players are not tempted by the riches on offer. "The reaction of the two players was the same," Ancelotti told the News of the World. "They said no. They wouldn't go for money. "For players like them, yes money is important, but what's more important is the team, the leadership of the team and to play at the top, top level. "That's why I was always confident John Terry would stay. "I have only worked with him for a month, but I can tell he is a great man and it's impossible that he goes to another place. "Here he has respect, he has leadership, he is the symbol. So to go only for the money is impossible. "It was the same situation with Kaka. It was impossible for Kaka to go just for money."
