Carlo not fearing Roman's wrath

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti believes Roman Abramovich is pleased with the way the Blues are performing under his stewardship. The Italian has guided Chelsea to joint top of the Premier League, while they also head their UEFA Champions League group, with just one defeat in their opening 10 games in all competitions so far. The Blues next take on Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, where defeat last season marked the beginning of the end for former boss Luiz Felipe Scolari. His side had been unbeaten in all competitions until that point but three months later the Brazilian was gone. Ancelotti does not fear the same fate as he believes he has the full backing of Abramovich. He said: "I spoke to Roman when he came to the training ground on Friday. He watched the training and said hello to the players. Happy "I didn't ask him if he is worried. He is happy because his team is joint top of the Premier League and top of their Champions League group." The Blues responded to last Saturday's shock defeat to Wigan by beating Cypriot champions Apoel Nicosia 1-0 in midweek. Ancelotti is confident his side will perform better against Liverpool - the 25th meeting of the clubs in five years. "We didn't play well (against Apoel) but when that happens it's still important to win because it maintains a good atmosphere in the dressing room," he said. "It's an important game against Liverpool and there is a good spirit in the team. "When things don't go well you have to look at it and do analysis to resolve the problem. We've done this and that is my job. "Liverpool is a big test because they are a big team. Last season was fantastic for them and they have very good players. Play better "We can win this game if we play better than Wednesday and I'm sure we'll play better. "For sure I'm ready and it's important the players are ready too. They are because they are used to these matches. "It's important to have the courage and personality to give our best on the pitch. "Every game, whether it's easy or hard, you want to take three points but more so against a team at the top of the table. "Our aim is to play well because if you play well it's the best way to win. I'd like to see Chelsea control the game because Liverpool are very strong in defence. "They will use Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard to attack so we must be intelligent and read the game." Ancelotti is looking forward to seeing Torres and Didier Drogba on the same pitch after describing the duo as the best strikers in the world. "At this moment they are best in the game. It's very nice for the fans to see these strikers," he said.
