Carlo confirms Jose clash

Chelsea goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini has confirmed that he reacted angrily to being left out of the Blues line-up for the 2-2 Champions League draw against Barcelona three weeks ago.

Cudicini felt he was ready to start in the Camp Nou after recovering from concussion suffered at Reading, but coach Jose Mourinho opted to keep faith with Hilario for the Barca clash.

Cudicini has now returned to the starting eleven, with Petr Cech set to miss the rest of the season due to a head injury, also sustained against the Royals.

Of his spat with Mourinho, Cudicini commented: "We talked and I felt I was ready to play.

"Players are selfish and sometimes you think you are ready, but you have coaches judging you and they thought I wasn't.

"Coaches are there to judge and see how a player is in that moment. They thought I wasn't 100 per cent ready and preferred to play Hilario.

"So I talked to the manager and told him I thought I was ready, but there was no fighting or shouting or anything like that.

"It was a confrontation and we talked. It is something I have done in the past two years with him, so it was nothing major."
