Carlo Ancelotti plans Spurs raid as Chelsea chief eyes 30m Luka Modric

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has made Tottenham playmaker Luka Modric his top target for next summer. Blues owner Roman Abramovich is prepared to fund a spending spree before next season and Ancelotti will test Spurs' resolve with a £30million bid for Modric. Dinamo Zagreb vice-president Zdravko Mamic, who engineered Modric's move to White Hart Lane in 2008, told The Sun: 'I was with Ancelotti for lunch. I was very proud when I heard what he said about Modric. Top target: Spurs playmaker Modric is on Chelsea's summer shopping list 'Luka is top of his list, his first pick when it comes to new signings. I am not Modric's agent - I am just his friend - but I am very proud. 'I don't want to say anything more because I don't want to upset my friends at Tottenham.' The Blues were linked with Croatia playmaker Modric when he left Dinamo Zagreb for £17m while Newcastle and Arsenal also missed out. Spurs boss Harry Redknapp will be desperate to keep Modric, who has more than two years left on his deal, as he has been in superb form during Spurs' Champions League campaign and surge up the Premier League table.  Chelsea won't discuss new deal for striker Drogba until next summerKid Kakuta to commit future to Chelsea despite interest from AC MilanKing escapes Redknapp wrath despite looking worse for wear at Christmas doCHELSEA FC
