Carlo - one game from the sack?

Are Chelsea in terminal decline? Where does Chelsea go from here? Having thrashed Aston Villa last March 7-1 at Stamford Bridge to go on a record their first Double, the Blues look as if they are in terminal decline drawing 3-3 against a team just above the relegation zone. Having being beaten by Liverpool 2-0 at Anfield in November, the Blues have recorded just two league wins in nine and that against mighty Fulham and Bolton Wanderers. This is a team Abramovich built and sadly has failed to maintain. Carlo Ancelotti looks as if he is going through the motions, saying all the right things but inspiring very little confidence in players or fans. After draw this afternoon,  he said: "I'm disappointed because we worked very hard in the second half to come back into the game when 2-1 down. "We did a fantastic job, we came back and scored to make it 3-2 and everyone thought the game was finished. We needed to win this game. We didn't and now it's more difficult to prepare for the next game." Wow after those revelatory remarks, Abramovich must be so pleased he listened to his "special advisors" who recommended the former AC Milan boss. If he is sacked as it’s becoming increasingly more likely he will receive the full package in the termination clause in his contract. Chelsea have got themselves in pickle - who do they replace Carlo with? Well, with the team playing like a bunch of girls, the smart money must be on newly-promoted assistant coach Michael Emenalo who, as we all know, coached U-14 girls’ teams in the USA. With a former teacher in Paul Clement as his other assistant, Ancelotti must be pulling his hair out at the petulant sacking by Abramovich of Ray Wilkins. At least Wilkins has played the game at the highest level and could give serious quality advice to Ancelotti. Chelsea is now out of fourth place and Champions League contention. They will need to turn their season around in spectacular style to be sure they avoid the ignominy of the Europa Cup next season - if that. The Blues face Wolves away on Wednesday. Ancelotti has that game to save is job and Chelsea league season. Read today's 3-3 match report here
