Carlo Ancelotti targets Champions League glory to save his job

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has hinted that he will expect the sack should he fail to deliver the Champions League trophy and fourth place in the Premier League at the end of the season. [LNB]The Blues boss is under intense pressure having lost his grip on the domestic Double he achieved in his first year at Stamford Bridge. [LNB]Only one manager has failed to land England's top prize and subsequently avoided Roman Abramovich's axe, but on that occasion Jose Mourinho was out the door within a month of the start of the next campaign anyway. [LNB] True Blue: Carlo Ancelotti has reaffirmed his desire to stay at Chelsea[LNB]Ancelotti appears certain to fail in his primary aim, retaining the Premier League trophy, but saw his flagging team show signs of life in Tuesday's 2-0 Champions League win in Denmark. [LNB]The Italian, who has previously won Europe's premier competition as both a player and manager with AC Milan, knows victory at Wembley in May will be the perfect tonic for a year of disappointment domestically. [LNB]He said in an interview with La Repubblica: 'I am thinking about the Champions League and fourth place at the minimum in the Premier League. I have drummed it into the team: think about the Final at Wembley. I am working a lot.'[LNB] Top prize: Chelsea's only realistic hope of silverware is the Champions League[LNB]Ancelotti was linked with the manager's post at Roma following the departure of another former Chelsea boss, Claudio Ranieri, although that position has now been filled by Vincenzo Montella.[LNB]The 51-year-old, though, insists that while he plans to one day return to his home country, he doesn't expect to do so anytime soon.
