Capello enraged by naivety of captain Terry, Ferdinand and Johnson

It was John Terry, Rio Ferdinand and Glen Johnson who bore the brunt of Fabio Capello's anger at the end of England's friendly match against Holland. While Capello was prepared to write off the shocking first-half errors of Ferdinand and Gareth Barry, which led to Holland's goals, as pre-season aberrations, it was the positioning of the three defenders after England had fought back to 2-2 which infuriated the Italian manager. With injury time looming and the game poised at a respectable draw, all three defenders careered forward for an England corner, leaving just Wayne Bridge back to defend. 'I was angry,'said Capello. 'This is really stupid. These are the mistakes I don't like. You have a result but with one counter-attack you [could have] lost the game. Why?' Capello does not buy the excuse that English players have a gung-ho attitude that drives them to win rather than draw. 'If Holland had scored a goal in this situation, the players should have preferred not to return to the dressing room,' he said.
