Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole has been ruled out of Tuesday's Champions League encounter with AS Roma after suffering a calf injury in Saturday's 5-0 demolition of Sunderland.
The former Arsenal star is expected to be sidelined for up to ten days after picking up the injury in a challenge with Steed Malbranque.
The 27-year-old has endured an injury-ravaged month since picking up a hamstring problem in England's 5-1 victory against Kazakhstan.
He was forced to sit out his country's World Cup qualifying win in Belarus as well as the Blues' 5-0 win at Middlesbrough and 1-0 victory in the Stamford Bridge clash with Roma.
Meanwhile, captain John Terry hopes the club's fans do not cause any trouble in the Italian capital this week.
Roma's fans have been involved in violent clashes with supporters from Middlesbrough and Manchester United in the last few years, and Terry hopes Blues fans do not become embroiled in any alterations.
He said: "I want everyone travelling to be careful and sensible. Enjoy the city and the game. Let's all get home safe and with a good result."
