Bridge pens Blues extension

Chelsea's England left-back Wayne Bridge has signed a new four-year contract with the reigning Premiership champions.

The 26-year-old still had 18 months of his current deal to run, but is now under contract to the Blues until the summer of 2010.

Bridge moved to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2003 for £7million from Southampton, but has suffered with injuries while with the Blues and was loaned out to Fulham last season.

He also faces renewed problems in trying to grab a regular starting spot following the arrival of Ashley Cole from Arsenal.

However, Bridge told the club's official website: "I feel as though I'm playing well this season.

"I believe that I will continue to get opportunities and I'm delighted to have signed."
