Brazilians line up rescues for Spurs flop Gilberto and forgotten Blue Mineiro

Brazil internationals Gilberto and Mineiro have been handed a route out of England after suffering a torrid time at Tottenham and Chelsea respectively.

The pair have been offered to Rio de Janeiro-based club Fluminense, who are looking to strengthen ahead of the start of the national championship next month.

Left back Gilberto has never really recovered from a disastrous debut against PSV in March last year when his blunder cost Spurs a goal and the Dutchman went on to win the UEFA Cup tie.

Given the boot: Gilberto's days look numbered at Tottenham

Mineiro signed for Chelsea as a free agent by compatriot Luiz Felipe Scolari in September. But the experienced former Hertha Berlin midfielder has made only two appearances and has not got a look-in since Guus Hiddink took over affairs.

Both players had muscled their way into the Brazil national team before coming to the Barclays Premier League and they impressed in their country's Copa America triumph in 2007.
