Bolton will cope without cup-tied Daniel Sturridge for Wembley showdown with Stoke, says Owen Coyle

Bolton manager Owen Coyle is convinced his free-flowing side can cope with the loss of Daniel Sturridge when they face Stoke at Wembley.

Sturridge, 21, is ineligible for the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday as he played for Chelsea earlier in the competition.

That must be good news for Bolton's opponents as the striker took his tally to six goals in eight games with a brace in the 3-0 victory against West Ham.

Coyle lauded Sturridge for his contribution but believes they can fill the hole caused by his absence with the likes of Ivan Klasnic, Matt Taylor, Rodrigo and Robbie Blake on board.

Coyle said: 'Of course a young player like Daniel would be desperate to grace Wembley. Yes he misses out but we have quality in the forward areas to come in.

'He scored two goals but could have had four or five. That is always pleasing to see. Even the games he does not score in he contributes to the team.

'He has pace to burn. You love watching that kind of player because we are all here to be entertained. I want a team that is pleasing on the eye.'

Sturridge scored either side of half-time - Lee Chung-yong was also on target - but his future remains unclear.

However, Coyle has little doubt the England Under-21 player can grow in the top flight just like Arsenal's Jack Wilshere, who enjoyed a loan spell at the Reebok Stadium last season.

'Can we keep Daniel? That won't be my decision - the same as Jack. That will be when goes back to Chelsea,' said the Bolton boss.

'I was quite close to getting Jack back. Now he has really blossomed. Daniel can do the same. They are both set for glittering careers.'
