Blues wait on Cech results
24 Dec 2007 - 09:37:19
Chelsea are anxiously awaiting the results of a scan to discover the extent of an injury suffered by Petr Cech in Sunday's victory at Blackburn Rovers.
The Blues number one was replaced in the second half of the 1-0 win at Ewood Park with a side-muscle problem and could miss the rest of the festive period.
Third-choice keeper Hilario came off the bench to make his first appearance in 12 months as regular back-up Carlo Cudicini is currently sidelined with a rib problem.
Chelsea coach Avram Grant is already without key duo John Terry (foot) and Didier Drogba (knee).
"It is in his side, the muscle, we will know more tomorrow (Monday) when he has a scan," Grant told the club's official website.
"I wanted take him off before he came off but he wanted five minutes more in case he felt better. So we waited.
"Carlo (Cudicini) has a rib injury and I think it will take a few days more at least.
"I cannot lie and say it is easy. We have used all the squad this season and the contribution of the players coming in to replace injured players and the players coming back from injury is very good because we continue winning.
"I am very happy with the win, but I cannot say it was one of our best performances."
