Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was delighted after the Premiership champions opened their defence of the title with a 3-0 win over Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.
Goals from John Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba gave Chelsea a flying start, despite Mourinho being worried about his team's readiness for action.
He said: "There were ten minutes at the start of the second half when our quality dropped, but we played very well for 80 minutes.
"Defensively we were perfect and the intensity of our offensive game was very high.
"The quality of our passing was good. We scored three and we could easily have scored four or five. We had the chances. We dominated and beat a good team.
"It's always important to win the first game in motivational terms.
"We have two difficult matches away from home at places where we lost last season.
"Not winning this home game would have put pressure on us away from home.
"Now my only doubt is whether we are fit enough to play three matches in one week."
