Blues to hold Terry talks
09 Jul 2009 - 08:27:46
Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti will hold talks with John Terry on Thursday aimed at ending the speculation surrounding the future of his captain.
Terry will return to the club's Cobham training base to begin preparations for the new season following a summer break and the first task on Ancelotti's agenda is to speak with the Blues and England skipper.
The 28-year-old defender is wanted by Manchester City, who have tabled two offers for his services during the close season.
Ambitious City are believed to be ready to lavish a £200,000 per week wage on Terry, with some reports claiming the long-serving defender is interested in talking to the Eastlands club.
But Ancelotti, chief executive Peter Kenyon and chairman Bruce Buck have all warned that Terry is not for sale and will definitely not be leaving Stamford Bridge this summer.
Chelsea are also reported to be considering offering Terry a lucrative new contract worth £155,000 per week to persuade him to remain with the Blues.
Ancelotti even used his first press conference since being confirmed in the hot-seat to spell out his intention to keep hold of his talismanic captain.
Speaking on Monday, the former AC Milan boss said: "John Terry is the symbol of this team, he will be captain.
"He wants to stay at Chelsea forever and we want to keep him forever.
"There is a question of Manchester City but for Terry there is no price."
