Chelsea defender Paulo Ferreira will be sidelined until mid-December after picking up an ankle injury in Wednesday's thrilling Carling Cup victory against Leicester City.
Blues boss Avram Grant has also confirmed that Ashley Cole and John Terry are not expected to return to action for another two weeks.
"They (Cole and Terry) are better, quicker than we thought, but they are not ready yet," Grant told the club's official website.
"I think it will take two or three weeks more. Ashley Cole may be available next week, but JT will take longer.
"Paulo Ferreira is not available and will be out for five or six weeks. He has a problem in his ankle with his ligament.
"We are short but we have a big squad. Paulo was very good in the last six weeks, he played very well in attack and defence, but what can you do?
"He is injured and we have a big squad and good players to replace him, the same as JT and Ashley Cole."
