Blues step up Dembele chase

14 June 2009 10:22
Chelsea have joined the race to sign AZ Alkmaar striker Moussa Dembele. New coach Carlo Ancelotti is believed to be a big fan of the 21-year-old, who is also interesting Genoa, Juventus, Fiorentina and Sevilla. AZ technical director Marcel Brands told De Telegraaf: "I know through his agent that Chelsea are following Moussa. "But Genoa registered their interest a few weeks ago. "I will certainly not say no to a transfer, but if there is nothing by 22nd June he will report for the club's first training session of pre-season." Dembele, whose goals helped Louis van Gaal mastermind a domestic title for AZ last season, was quoted in Het Laatste Nieuws as saying: "I am certainly not against such a development. "I am indeed in a good position. I can continue at AZ, where it is excellent, or move to a foreign club."
