Blues silent over Terry red
23 Dec 2008 - 07:29:40
Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari refused to speak to the press following Monday's goalless draw with Everton at Goodison Park.
The Blues failed to topple Liverpool from the top of the Premier League table after dropping two points on Merseyside.
But Scolari opted to keep his counsel after the final whistle following referee Phil Dowd's decision to show John Terry a straight red card.
Terry's 35th minute lunge at Leon Osman caught the Toffees midfielder high on the ankle and left the defender facing a three-match ban.
Blues number two Ray Wilkins, who has stood in for Scolari at recent media briefings, also did not speak to the press.
"None of the management team feel able to come up for a press conference," said a club spokesperson.
"They had issues with a number of decisions and felt that they could well get themselves into trouble if they did speak."
Chelsea also had three other players - Alex, Michael Ballack and Ashley Cole - booked on a frustrating night.
However, Brazilian defender Alex could face further action after appearing to stamp on Everton midfielder Tim Cahill.
