Chelsea are refusing to comment on reports that Ashley Cole could be fined following fresh allegations concerning his private life.
The England defender has found himself on the front pages of several tabloid newspapers just days after chief executive Ron Gourlay warned Blues players not to taint the club's image.
Gourlay was concerned that the recent exploits of leading players were damaging their reputation and reportedly told the players of their responsibilities at the club's training ground last week.
Chelsea captain John Terry was recently stripped of the England armband after stories emerged of an alleged extra-marital affair with a former team-mate's ex-partner.
Reports in some Monday newspapers suggested that Cole had deliberately misled the club's director of communications.
But the Blues are remaining silent on reports that owner Roman Abramovich is considering fining the England international a record sum.
"This is a private matter for Ashley Cole," said a club spokesperson.
"Where anything is alleged to have happened on Chelsea FC time, that is an internal club matter and will be dealt with internally."
