    Blues keeper heads to Hibs

    27 Jun 2007 - 10:20:15

Chelsea's back-up goalkeeper Yves Makaba-Makalamby has left Stamford Bridge to join SPL side Hibernian on a three-year contract.

The 21-year-old had been with the Blues for four years, but had not made a senior appearance for the Stamford Bridge club.

Hibs boss John Collins told his club's official website: "Yves is a young signing for us, but he comes with tremendous potential.

"He is a good height for a goalkeeper at 6ft 5ins and is strong and athletic. He has all the attributes you could expect of a player in that position.

"We were all very impressed by Yves when he came to Easter Road in January and had hoped he might join us at that point.

"However, Chelsea required him to return as back-up and we had to be patient.

"It says much for his qualities that he nearly played in the Champions League, and I have little doubt that, had he been called upon to do so, he would have done himself justice.

"Yves will continue to develop at our club and have every opportunity to reach his full potential, something that I am confident he will achieve."
