Blues face Lampard exit
01 Jul 2007 - 18:04:35
Chelsea's England midfielder Frank Lampard has reportedly rejected the offer of a massive new contract from the Blues and could exit Stamford Bridge this summer.
The 29-year-old still has another two years left on his current deal, but is rumoured to have turned down an extended stay, news that is sure to interest both Barcelona and Juventus.
Earlier in the week, Lampard had admitted: "I have two years left on my contract at Chelsea, that's the way it is.
"They have no necessity to come and offer me anything, so I just carry on and get on with it as you have to as a player.
"In an ideal world I would have done it three weeks ago, but it is not an ideal world is it?"
Lampard joined Chelsea in the summer of 2001 for £11million from West Ham United and has gone on to be one of the key players in the Blues' success under Jose Mourinho.
The England schemer has scored 90 goals in 329 appearances for the Blues to date.
Meanwhile, Blues striker Didier Drogba has played down suggestions that he could decide to leave Stamford Bridge for a new challenge.
He told The News of The World: "AC Milan? What a good club, they are the champions of Europe. But I have spoken to nobody.
"I only know what I read in the press, but there is no problem with my contract with Chelsea. My deal is clear and is no bother to me."
