Chelsea have confirmed that they are keen to sign Brazilian wing-back Daniel Alves from Sevilla, but deny that they have agreed a fee with the UEFA Cup holders.
The 24-year-old right-back has been the subject of two major bids in the last week, with the Blues reportedly leading the chase for the South American ace.
However, a short statement on Chelsea's official club website confirmed: "Contrary to reports from Spain, Chelsea Football Club has not reached an agreement for the transfer of Daniel Alves from Sevilla.
"Chelsea FC has confirmed its interest in the player to the club, but as yet there is no agreement."
Real Madrid are also believed to be in the hunt for Alves, with Sevilla coach Juande Ramos admitting: "It's true that Daniel has an important role in this team, especially in our attacking play.
"It's also true that two teams like Real Madrid and Chelsea are trying to acquire his services.
"We will try to overcome his absence with another player who will show the same ambition as him."
Sevilla president, Jose Maria del Nido, had earlier confirmed: "We have refused an offer of 35million euros and another one that was of almost 32million euros, which did not include any swap deals.
"If we receive an offer that is above his current value in the market, then he could leave us and, if not, we will remain calm."
