Blues Bullish Under Hiddink - Cole
Published : 19 Apr 2009 13:09:00
England left-back Ashley Cole believes Chelsea have acquired an invincible belief under interim coach Guus Hiddink. Cole helped Chelsea reach the FA Cup final with a 2-1 victory over former club Arsenal at Wembley on Saturday and insists they will not give up on the chance of winning a trophy treble. Chelsea had to come from behind after Theo Walcott put the Gunners in front in the 18th minute when he converted a cross from Kieran Gibbs. Walcott's effort was helped on its way by another dreadful mistake from Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech. The Czech Republic international, currently suffering from something of a crisis in confidence, could only help the ball into the net. But Chelsea were on level terms before the interval thanks to Florent Malouda. The France international collected a pass from Frank Lampard and beat Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski at his near post with a low drive from 10 yards. The Blues sealed their place in the final when Lampard's long pass enabled Didier Drogba to shrug off Mikael Silvestre and round Fabianski to score six minutes from time. Chelsea had to come from behind to see off Liverpool in the Champions League in midweek and Cole believes their confidence under Hiddink is so strong that even going a goal behind no longer holds any fears for them. "I think we began to show our dominance in the second half," he said. "We showed experience and determination to fight once again. "Game by game we have been growing in confidence and belief, knowing that we are good enough to win trophies. "The Barclays Premier League might be out of our hands but we are not going to give up. We are going to try and win every game and if we do that I think we will have a great season. "Arsenal were on a good run but we still are. We are so confident at the minute and even if we do go a goal down, we believe we can beat anyone. We showed that again against Arsenal. "I don't know whether the treble is on but we could be in two finals next month and we won't give up on the league, we will keep on going."
