    Blues admit charges

    17 Oct 2007 - 15:39:31

Chelsea have admitted a Football Association charge of failing to control their players during last month's Premier League defeat at Manchester United.

The charge relates to the conduct of Blues players towards referee Mike Dean following the dismissal of midfielder John Obi Mikel.

Assistant coach Steve Clarke has also admitted a charge of using abusive and/or insulting words towards the match officials at the end of the 2-0 defeat.

Last season's FA Cup winners were livid when Mikel was sent off in the first half of the match for a challenge on Patrice Evra.

Chelsea appealed against the decision but the FA backed the referee and Mikel's three-match suspension was upheld.

England captain John Terry escaped punishment after appearing to grab Dean's red card.

The Old Trafford clash was Chelsea's first game following Jose Mourinho's departure.

Both the club and Steve Clarke have requested personal hearings.
