Chelsea have accepted an undisclosed offer from Valencia for Spain left-back Asier del Horno.

The 25-year-old only moved to Stamford Bridge a year ago and made 34 appearances for the Blues after his £8million switch from Athletic Bilbao.

However, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has made no secret of the fact that he will allow del Horno to move on, with Real Madrid's Roberto Carlos and Arsenal's Ashley Cole having been linked with the Premiership champions.

Mourinho had stated: "We have Wayne Bridge back. His spirit at Fulham was good and it was a good move for him and for us.

"We'll have to wait and see what is happening with del Horno. If we sell him we will have a space in our squad. We will have to wait.

"At the moment we're closer to selling than buying, although we'll buy a left-back if we can."

Del Horno had earlier said of the interest from Valencia: "I would love to return to the Primera Liga because it's a competition that I am very familiar with.

"I am very honoured by the interest from Valencia."
