Chelsea defender Patrick van Aanholt has joined Coventry on loan until the end of the year. The 18-year-old defender has made 12 reserve-team appearances for the Blues after moving from Dutch Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven in 2007. Meanwhile, Sky Blues boss Chris Coleman has lodged a bid for an unnamed central midfielder. He said: "We've made a bid to the respective club, we know the player wants to join through the agent, that's how it always works. "There's nothing else we can do. It's like when we were trying to get players in before, you can't force someone's hand, you can only try and do business as best as you can. We've always done business in an honest way I'm pleased to say, which is rare in football nowadays. "So all we can do is wait. Wait for the club to accept the bid, I don't think we're far off but, again, I've sat here before and said the same thing. I'm hoping and praying we get another couple of faces." Coleman added: "He won't be in for the opening game, no chance. All I can hope for is that the business is done before the end of the transfer window."
