Blues hit by Benayoun injury blow

Chelsea and Israel midfielder Yossi Benayoun is facing several months on the sidelines after tearing his Achilles tendon.[LNB] The former Liverpool and West Ham playmaker had been hoping to recover from a calf strain to feature in his country's upcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers.[LNB]Israel tackle Croatia and Greece over the next week, however, Benayoun is now out as a scan has revealed a tear to his Achilles tendon.[LNB]"I arrived with hope of helping the national team but unfortunately this is not a simple injury... an additional test will reveal what needs to be done," he told the Israel FA's official website.[LNB]Benayoun has missed Chelsea's recent matches after picking up a calf strain in the club's Carling Cup exit to Newcastle United.[LNB]Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti will now be agonising over this latest setback for Benayoun which is sure to rule him out for some time.
