Blues expect Cole stay

Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon is confident Joe Cole will extend his association with the club. The Blues have enjoyed a productive summer in terms of persuading key men to pen new long-term deals at Stamford Bridge. John Terry, Ashley Cole and Didier Drogba have all committed to the club in recent weeks, helping to end speculation surrounding their respective futures. Rumours continue to suggest that Joe Cole may yet decide to take on a new challenge elsewhere, though, with Chelsea's squad now brimming with attacking talent. The England ace has been out of action since January and his current contract will expire next summer. He is, however closing in on a first-team return and Kenyon insists new coach Carlo Ancelotti will welcome the winger back into the fold. "Joe is just back in training and we are all delighted to see that," he said in the Evening Standard. "We want, and he wants, to remain at Chelsea."
