Chelsea will punish any supporters found to have aggravated an already volatile atmosphere in the wake of their clash against Barcelona.[LNB] Tensions around Stamford Bridge reached boiling point in midweek as the Blues crashed out of the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Barca.[LNB]A 1-1 draw during the second leg of their semi-final contest saw the Spaniards progress by virtue of the away goals rule.[LNB]A dramatic stoppage-time equaliser from Andres Iniesta dashed the Blues' dreams, leaving those in attendance despondent.[LNB]There was also a sense at the final whistle that referee Tom Henning Ovrebo was partially responsible for Chelsea's exit, with the Norwegian official having waved away a number of vociferous penalty shouts.[LNB]Players and supporters alike turned then their anger towards Ovrebo, with ugly on-field confrontations marring the climax of the game.[LNB]EvidenceReports on Thursday suggest death threats have even been made against the under-fire official, and Chelsea have moved quickly to condemn the actions of a mindless minority.[LNB]"Following media reports claiming threats have been made against the referee of last night's game, Chelsea Football Club would like to make clear that it condemns any form of threat against players, officials or supporters," read a statement on the club's official website.[LNB]"If provided with proper evidence Chelsea will take the strongest action against any season ticket holder or members who have participated in this activity.[LNB]"Everybody connected with the club is very disappointed with the events of last night.[LNB]"However, we would stress that we have received no evidence that Chelsea fans are involved in any of the alleged threats reported.[LNB]"As a result of these reports we have also been in contact with the police who likewise had not received any complaints."[LNB]
