Bhoys eye late Turnbull bid

New Celtic boss Tony Mowbray is hoping to make a last-ditch bid for Middlesbrough goalkeeper Ross Turnbull, skysports.com understands. The 24-year-old has snubbed a new deal at The Riverside and is now free to leave the relegated North East club. A host of clubs had been looking at landing Turnbull on a Bosman free transfer. But Chelsea have been leading the chase for the shot-stopper and remain firm favourites to land him. However, Mowbray - freshly installed at Parkhead - is ready to make a late move for Turnbull to try and entice him north of the border. Chelsea are understood to have offered Turnbull terms, and although Celtic would struggle to match them, a first-team place is much more likely at Celtic Park than at Stamford Bridge, where he knows he would begin life as number two to Petr Cech.
