Beram Kayal: I feared Didier Drogba had broken my leg
Beram Kayal has admitted that he feared he had suffered the same fate as Celtic colleague Emilio Izaguirre after a horror tackle from Premiership star Didier Drogba.[LNB] Stretchered from the field after 36 minutes of Israel's 4-3 friendly defeat to the Ivory Coast on Wednesday night, Parkhead midfielder Kayal initially believed he had sustained a broken ankle identical to Izaguirre's in Aberdeen last weekend.[LNB] Anxious wait: Beram Kayal (left)[LNB] Last night, examinations suggested the ankle was merely badly swollen and bruised. Like Celtic skipper Scott Brown - injured in action for Scotland against Denmark - the Israeli could miss tomorrow's SPL clash with Dundee United and is now touch and go for the Europa League clash with Sion next week.[LNB] To the relief of Kayal and Celtic, however, there seems to be no long-term damage.[LNB] 'I was in shock when I felt the pain in my ankle because the first thing that flashed through my mind was what happened to Emilio Izaguirre,' said Kayal. 'He (Drogba) came in very hard.[LNB] 'In a regular game, he would have got a yellow card or perhaps even a red card for something like that.[LNB] 'He apologised to me afterwards. I'm undergoing examinations and we'll see what the situation is.' 'I was disappointed to see him go off against Denmark at Hampden but I think he will be OK.[LNB] 'That's judging from looking at him and talking to him after the game and knowing what kind of guy he is.[LNB] 'He never likes missing any game and he has already missed the opening two through suspension, so he will be raring to go.[LNB] 'I was actually joking with him that he would have no chance of making it and that he should rest up - but I think it fell on deaf ears.'
