Benayoun coy on Reds future

Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun has admitted he would rather concentrate on seeing the side's mediocre season out than discussing his future at the Anfield-based club.

The Israel international has been widely linked with a move away from the underachieving Merseysiders at the end of the current campaign with Shakhtar Donetsk and CSKA Moscow believed to be in the hunt for his signature.

However, the 29-year-old former West Ham United man wants to get his head down between now and the end of the season and has claimed that failure to qualify for the Champions League next term may not necessarily hasten a move from the club.

Speaking to reporters, he said: "I have three more years left on my contract here at Liverpool, but I'd rather concentrate on the present and see out this disappointing season.

"As far as I am concerned, failure to reach the Champions League should not be a reason not to continue at Liverpool. At the moment, I'm at one of the world's biggest clubs and I'm enjoying it here.

"I have a few good seasons left in me and hope that the pinnacle of my career is still ahead.

"I still might receive an offer in the future which could not be turned down. Who knows?"
