Bayern star to decide on future
ayern Munich's Franck Ribery - a target for Real Madrid, Barcelona and Chelsea - plans to make a decision on his future in the next 10 days.[LNB] The 27-year-old's Bayern deal expires in 2011 but, if he does not commit himself to the Bundesliga outfit, there is little chance of them holding on to him for the final 12 months of his contract and then allowing him to walk away for free.[LNB]The Frenchman hinted last month he would favour a move to Spain if he opted to leave Bavaria, but insisted no decision had been taken.[LNB]Ribery claims he has still not made up his mind but plans to do so in the near future.[LNB]Asked by German television channel Sport1 whether he had a concrete offer from a club on the table, he replied: "No. There is at this time no club who say that I will come or to whom I am going.[LNB]"Real Madrid, Barcelona and Chelsea are still interested in me and they want me to play for them.[LNB]"We have still some games to play and little recovery time. Therefore I believe that I will determine in the very near future what I will do next year."[LNB]Pushed as to when, specifically, he said: "I hope in the next week or in the next 10 days."[LNB]Ribery wants a five-year contract but insisted last month economic security would not be the only factor in his decision, with his wife keen to move to sunny climes.[LNB]He will listen to what Bayern have to offer in the near future before reaching his decision.[LNB]"I will have talks with the club leadership and with my agent," he said.[LNB]"And as I already said, in a week or 10 days, when the talks have been held, I will know what the situation is."[LNB]Earlier today, Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge expressed his determination to hold on to Ribery for next season so the club can challenge the European supremacy of Barcelona.[LNB]"We will hold talks. Our clear aim is still to extend the contract," Rummenigge said in an interview with the Bild newspaper.[LNB]"But if we do not achieve that, it doesn't automatically mean that we will sell Franck this summer.[LNB]"We want to have a team next season who achieve their goals domestically and internationally take another step forward.[LNB]"We have the goal in the future not to travel humbly to Barcelona, but rather with a chance of being at the same level. Franck is necessary to do that."[LNB]Rummenigge also insisted Arjen Robben would be staying put, the Dutchman having enjoyed a brilliant debut season in Munich.[LNB]"Arjen's contract here has three more years to run. He is very happy. His father said to me, 'Perhaps he would have been better coming to you three years ago'," he said.[LNB]Rummenigge also ruled out a summer bid for Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko, who has been linked with a switch to Chelsea.[LNB]"I think Dzeko is a very good player, but we will not go there this year," said Rummenigge.[LNB]"We have no problems in attack. With (Toni) Kroos (on loan at Bayer Leverkusen this season) we have a touch more quality and more options tactically."[LNB]Bayern are still in contention for the Bundesliga title, the DFB Pokal and the Champions League in coach Louis van Gaal's first season in charge, and Rummenigge is hoping for an extended period of success with the Dutchman at the helm.[LNB]"We want continuity. It would be nice if we could start a successful era here with Louis," he said.[LNB]On the prospect of winning the triple, Rummenigge added: "The German title is the priority. I believe that this title is the key to possible further successes. Champions, DFB Pokal final against Werder Bremen.[LNB]"And then perhaps the big one, the Champions League final. It is 50-50 against Lyon (in the semi-finals)."
