Ballack: No need for panic
07 Dec 2009 - 09:29:08
Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack insists there is no need to panic despite seeing their lead at the top of the table cut to two points at the weekend.
The Blues lost 2-1 at Manchester City on Saturday evening to complete a miserable few days in the north west.
Carlo Ancelotti's side had been dumped out of the Carling Cup by Blackburn Rovers following a quarter-final defeat on penalties just three days earlier.
But despite back-to-back disappointments and a third league defeat of the season, Ballack insists there is no reason to be unduly concerned.
"We bounced back after defeats to Wigan and Aston Villa and we must do it again," said the Germany captain.
Referring to Frank Lampard's penalty miss against City, he added: "We could have got a draw if we'd scored from the penalty spot and that would have been a good away result.
"Even after that we had a good chance to equalise, so we have to take some positives from the game.
"We're disappointed to lose but we have to remember the good things - the way we fought back and the fact we deserved a draw."
