Ballack backing new Chelsea boss Hiddink to catch Manchester United

Michael Ballack has tipped new coach Guus Hiddink to succeed at Chelsea[LNB]. [LNB]The Dutchman replaced Luiz Felipe Scolari last week and immediately targetted the Premier League title, despite trailing leaders Manchester United[LNB]by seven points. [LNB]And Ballack believes Hiddink's experience will prove invaluable during the remainder of the season. [LNB][LNB] Big things to come: Ballack (centre) has great expectations of Hiddink (below)[LNB]'He's an experienced coach, a very strong coach. He's had a lot of success. Even with teams like South Korea, Australia and now Russia,' said Ballack. [LNB]'I played against him (Hiddink) in the 2002 World Cup and against Russia in the current World Cup qualifier. He has pushed them to another level. You could see that in Euro 2008. That's what we know from outside. So now we start at Chelsea. [LNB]'It's not easy but he's an experienced guy, we are an experienced team with experienced players. We want success and we know how it works normally. It shouldn't be a problem to fight and stay together.' [LNB] Ballack, Didier Drogba and Petr Cech were reported to have led a player mutiny against their manager in the final days of Scolari's reign, but the influential German midfielder dismissed those allegations. [LNB]He said: 'I was surprised when I heard about what I was supposed to have done. I always had a lot of good words about Scolari. [LNB]'But it is normal in a club for players to speak with directors. If people speak with each other, even if you don't have the success you want, it happens. [LNB]'It happened under other coaches at Chelsea. It's normal as [owner] Roman [Abramovich] comes in the dressing room and speaks with players.'[LNB] But Ballack admitted results under the Brazilian had not been good enough and suggested Scolari's failure to speak fluent English was a key reason behind Chelsea's struggles. [LNB]'Scolari was a great coach,' said Ballack. 'Sometimes the language was not a problem though sometimes I felt he wanted to explain much more than he could with his language. [LNB]'He put a lot of effort in the team. Sometimes if you don't win, it's not an easy situation for everybody. We didn't get the results.'[LNB] Good luck Guus!
