Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has been named as the Premiership Manager of the Month for March, with Blues goalkeeper Petr Cech taking the player's award.

Mourinho's side won four out of four in the league last month, keeping clean sheets in all four games to complete a perfect month of Premiership football.

Awards panel spokesman Jim Hytner said: "Petr Cech has been in fantastic form since his return from injury, his run of eight consecutive Premiership clean sheets is incredible.

"Credit must also go to Jose Mourinho, who has instilled a never-say-die attitude into his players and is really turning up the heat in the race for the title."

Mourinho played down his part in the success, adding: "We won every game and played well and my players deserve the trophy.

"Last month we won every game and we played more matches than other teams because we had to play matches in hand."
