Former Chelsea boss Avram Grant finally looks set to land a job - as a coaching consultant to young players in one of Europe's most remote outposts. The Israeli, who was sacked by Chelsea after the Champions League final defeat by Manchester United in Moscow last year, is ready to take a role in the northern Russian republic of Komi. Grant this week visited Rabog, a former gulag in Komi where his grandfather died after fleeing the holocaust. The 54-year-old also used the trip to oversee a futsal tournament and revealed he was keen to take a formal role. 'I now feel a special relationship with Komi,' he said. 'Therefore, if leaders of the republic, who have organised the most important trip of my life, offer a professional collaboration, I am ready to consider and accept. 'I already have experience as a trainer-consultant of one of sports academies in Russia. 'I am glad to find the time to advise the players of a land that is part of my family history.' Grant is contender to take over as Poland's national coach, but former AC Milan, Inter and Lazio coach Alberto Zaccheroni has also expressed an interest, and the FA have expressed a desire to appoint a local candidate.
