Avram Grant blasts Premier League

Ex-Chelsea boss show passion at last Those of us used to Avram Grant as a calm, almost laconic character were treated to an almost table-thumping Grant following his club's defeat in the FA Cup Final. The former Chelsea boss saw his side defeated at Wembley 1-0 - they fell to a Didier Drogba free-kick, but Grant was furious at what he sees as an injustice. Not the loss, but his continued view that his team are being treated differently to others, notably Liverpool by the Premier League. He said: “The Premier League have shot themselves in the foot by not allowing the players [Portsmouth]  into Europe next season. “The Premier League did not respect them. What is the biggest story of the league this season – it’s Portsmouth – it’s a fairytale? “But the Premier League says no, they change the rules for us. “The players did their bit of the pitch and we lost out to a piece of paper or fax - I demand the Premier League change their minds. “I will fight for this because it is wrong. “People should not be victims of the Premier League. Instead they should send a letter of thanks to the players and tell them they are in Europe next year.” “I don‘t know if the appeal process is over - it’s not in my control. “I want someone to come to me and tell me I’m not right. “We came to the FA Cup final, the players did it and deserve to be in Europe. “It is good for the Premier League that Portsmouth is in Europe next season. Grant would not be too drawn on his future other than to say: “I will wait to see the future of the club – if they want to do a Newcastle and keep the players, I might stay on. But it’s not in my hands “My future is not important, what is important is the future of the club. If no one buys the club then the players will go.”
