"Cheryl Cole is separating from her husband Ashley Cole," read a Twitter post by the Girls Aloud singer and X-Factor host yesterday.
The announcement follows reports in The Sun alleging Ashley cheated on Cheryl with at least five different women during their marriage.

Ashley flew to mainland Europe for treatment on his broken ankle yesterday, with the prospect of a messy £22 million divorce hanging over his head.
The 29-year-old has been given the full backing of Chelsea staff, and has vowed to defend himself fully if the club pursue action against his off-the-field behaviour.
According to The Sun, Cole followed his highly-publicised one-night-stand with hairdresser Aimee Watson, with affairs with glamour model Sonia Wild, secretary Vicki Gough, American Ann Corbit and, most recently, brunette Alexandra Taylor.
