England left-back Ashley Cole has fully recovered from his fractured ankle and is back in the Chelsea squad for Saturday's game against Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

Cole will start on the bench against Spurs despite having no comeback matches since breaking his ankle against Everton earlier this season.

Chelseacoach Carlo Ancelotti said: 'Ashley has not played but he is very fitand trained all week with us. He will be on the bench tomorrow.'

His return is also a massive boost for England boss Fabio Capello ahead of the World Cup finals in South Africa this summer.

The 29-year-old is Capello's first choice at left-back and the Italian would have faced a major selection headache if Cole was ruled out as Manchester City's Wayne Bridge made himself unavailable for his country in the wake of the John Terry scandal.

Cole is now set to take his place alongside Terry as the Blues chase the first Premier League and FA Cup double in the club's history.

Chelsea sit four points ahead of Manchester United in the table with four games to go and take on Portsmouth at Wembley in the FA Cup final next month.
