Apologetic Malouda denies he's dirty despite X-rated challenge on Melchiot

Florent Malouda insists he is not a dirty player and has already said sorry to Mario Melchiot for his tackle in the defeat at Wigan on Saturday. Chelsea winger Malouda appeared to rake his studs down Melchiot's shin during the Latics' 3-1 win, leaving the Dutchman lying in agony. The incident was not spotted by referee Phil Dowd at the time, but was later condemned when it was broadcast on Match of the Day on Saturday night. Malouda escaped any form of retrospective punishment from the FA after they decided not to investigate the tackle further earlier this week. The France international told the Evening Standrad: 'I didn't even know I was criticised. I missed the ball and I was late. I told Mario and the referee that I was sorry. 'I don't know if every time I receive a bad tackle people will also analyse it. 'It does happen and Mario knows that. There are no problems between Mario and me.'
