Anelka handed contract snub as Chelsea refuse to discuss new deal

Nicolas Anelka is on a collision course with Chelsea after they reportedly refused to discuss a new contract until the end of the season. The France striker, who has scored twice in the opening three Barclays Premier League games this season, is out of contract in 2011. But Anelka, 30, has been told that the club does not hold talks with players in their 30s until they reach the final year of their deal, claims The Daily Star. The former Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City star, who joined for £15million from Bolton in January 2008, is apparently unhappy that he has not been rewarded for his form since arriving at Stamford Bridge. Anelka finished as the Premier League's leading scorer last season and delayed operations on his hip and groin this summer in an attempt to impress new boss Carlo Ancelotti.
