Anelka close to new Blues deal

The agent of Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka is confident the France forward will soon put pen to paper on a new contract at Stamford Bridge.[LNB] Anelka's current deal expires in 12 months' time but Chelsea had put talks regarding new deals for all their players on hold until after the end of the season.[LNB]With the Blues having completed a Premier League-FA Cup Double at the weekend, Anelka's future at Stamford Bridge is now set to be resolved.[LNB]The France international's agent Doug Pingisi has confirmed that discussions are ongoing and he is optimistic of a positive outcome.[LNB]"We are still in talks [about a new deal] and hopefully we will have news soon," Pingisi told skysports.com.[LNB]"He is happy at Chelsea and of course he wants to stay at Chelsea."[LNB]Anelka joined Chelsea from Bolton Wanderers in January 2008 and he weighed in with 11 goals en route to Carlo Ancelotti's side winning the Premier League this season.[LNB]Several of his team-mates have expressed a desire for the 31-year-old to stay at the club, with compatriot Florent Malouda stating that Anelka would have 'no hesitation' in signing an extension.
